I Like This Because...

The grand opening of the MGH Discovered Art showroom during the Second Friday Art Walk could not have been a more perfect evening. The springtime weather after our long, wet winter was the first indication that it was a special night. Was it the full moon or the full house, filled with friends, family, art lovers and art colleagues that made it so wonderful? I'm not sure, but the tone was set when one of the first visitors started a game of picking out which piece on the walls she could take home with her. Everyone kept it going all night, which prompts the question, why do you like it?

I like this because..."My father bought this painting for my husband and me when we bought our first house together in Alameda. I love the colors, the frame, the cubist style. But most of all I like this because it reminds me of family and our home."  - MGH

I like this because...I liked that it was dark and a little sad. He looks like he is leaving and doesn’t want to. And she is looking at him with disappointment. I couldn’t get it out of my head. It’s an oil and I’m unsure of the artist. I still like it. It’s beyond my talents.” – Greg Brown

I like this because...."I love to draw faces and my college notebook margins were full of them. My collections revolve around that love. I like African masks because they are unique, and embody a sense of drama as well as telling a story."- Audrey Lewak

The moral of the story is buy what you like.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to that night. My next open showroom hours will be Tuesday March 21 from 4:30-7:30 , and as always, I am available by appointment.
